Short report

22 23

Introduction

Security of supply continued to be a major concern for OpenEP last year. The situation has eased in terms of energy procurement and the markets. Nevertheless, the environment is still somewhat of a challenge for the industry as a whole.

A brief roundup of the year

Good response to a difficult starting position

Fortunately, the feared energy shortage has still not materialised. However, the danger has not been averted either, which makes it all the more important that the sector was able to respond appropriately and install a monitoring and early warning system in the previous financial year. The sector has also diversified the way it procures energy and, lastly, outlined measures to reduce consumption in the event of a crisis.

OpenEP fixed price model offers stability

OpenEP energy supply customers can now rely on a fixed price model based on market prices. Consumers with lower turnover are also able to benefit from this. For them, prices will stay the same over a select period of time, regardless of market developments.

Customer satisfaction still high

We conducted a satisfaction survey again this fiscal year. Customers awarded OpenEP and its employees 5.5 out of 6 points, which is very good. Those surveyed particularly appreciate the high level of quality at OpenEP and the specialist knowledge of its employees.

Doubling the number of deals

The significant increase in the number of business transactions once again demonstrated the efficiency of our processes and our team.

Record revenue

A record was broken in the last fiscal year: the company generated revenue of over 2 billion Swiss francs, exceeding budgeted results.

High quality standard under ISO 9001

Processes within OpenEP were further developed again this year and the management system was modernised. This contributes to the reliable and efficient provision of service. The monitoring audit according to ISO 9001 was passed without any problems.

Heavy involvement in regulatory changes

OpenEP took part in the consultation process for the Federal Act on Supervision and Transparency in Energy Wholesale Markets (FASTEWM) and submitted an opinion to the federal government. The new Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP), introduced on 1 September 2023, was implemented before it entered into force thanks to solid long-term preparations at OpenEP.

OpenEP employees

With all the excellent developments at OpenEP, it should not be forgotten: the success is due in no small part to the company’s employees. With their dedication and commitment, they have ensured that OpenEP has also mastered the second year of the Ukraine conflict with confidence.
